Estate collection of Carl L. (Mort) Mortison original cartoons and sketches. Carl Mortison (August 1889 – May 1963), was best known for his politically influenced cartoons featured in the Waterbury Republican and the American for over 5 decades. Some of his cartoons are on display in Yale’s Sterling Memorial Library, as well as in the Library’s of President’s Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy. He was honored for his work in 1957 by the American Civil Liberties Union. He also worked as a watchmaker for the Waterbury Clock Co. This is a rare find of all original work by this esteemed local cartoonist and Waterbury, CT native!!!
